Georgian silver-bladed pocket fruit knife c. 1795

Description

This substantial pocket fruit knife is 3 1/2 inches in the closed position.

It is made with fine brass liners, chamfered iridescent mother-of-pearl scales, silvered bolsters and end cap, white metal rivets, an engraved silver inlaid cartouche with the original owner’s name “W. Breedon”, a tooled silver back bar sleeve and a solid silver blade with a finely milled border on both sides.

There are two hallmarks: the George III duty mark and lion passant. The Duty Mark matches that of the London Assay Office in 1795. This 230-year-old knife is in excellent condition.
