Description

This beautiful knife measuring  3 1/2 inches closed, is made with fine brass liners, iridescent mother-of-pearl scales, an inlaid silver cartouche, tooled silver back bar sleeve and silvered bolsters. The substantial spearpoint blade has four hallmarks: Sheffield crown, lion passant, date letter “d” for 1921 and an unlisted maker’s mark “CP”. The Sheffield Assay Office register of marks lists three maker’s with “CP” marks but all are in the early 19th century and were no longer existing by 1921 so this knife is something of an enigma. Whoever made it, it remains a top-quality fruit knife and is in excellent condition.
