Description

James Fenton was a Birmingham silversmith who became renowned for silver thimbles and folding fruit knives.

This example of a James Fenton pocket fruit knife is 2 5/8 inches closed and is made with fine brass liners, iridescent carved mother-of-pearl scales, an inlaid silver cartouche and plain silvered bolsters.

The solid silver spearpoint blade has four hallmarks: the Sheffield crown, lion passant, date letter “p” for 1907 and the maker’s mark “J.F”. This fine silver pocket fruit knife is in excellent condition.
