Description

This large pocket fruit knife has brass liners, silver bolsters, a silver back bar with gadrooned pattern and an inlaid serpentine cartouche, chamfered iridescent mother-of-pearl scales and a substantial silver spearpoint blade. The blade has two hallmarks: the tricuspid King George III head duty mark and the lion passant used between 1798 and 1813. Judging by the style of the gadrooned back bar I would say the knife is from around 1800. The knife measures an impressive 4 inches when closed — a rare size! This superb knife is in excellent condition.
